The following is a list of characters that first appeared in that year, by order of first appearance. They were all introduced by the show's executive producer Alan Bateman who oversaw the serial before being succeeded by series producer Des Monaghan whose episodes first began airing in November. Sixteen of the original eighteen regular characters debuted in the pilot episode. The Fletcher family consisting of Frank Morgan, Tom and Pippa Fletcher, Carly Morris, Steven Matheson, Sally Keating and Lynn Davenport were introduced first.
Jevic, who was a fan of Home and Away when she was younger, began filming in January and said the cast and crew had been "welcoming and warm" towards her. Jevic previously played nurse Lee Radcliffe in Wentworth and found Amber to be a completely different character, which made the role more appealing to her. She commented, "I love my character, she's fun to play." Amber is a home carer hired to help John Palmer , who has become wheelchair-reliant following a stroke. Don Groves of IF Magazine described her as "loyal, funny and tough." Writers gave her connections to Willow Harris , Dean Thompson (Patrick O'Connor) and Colby Thorne , as she grew up in Mangrove River with them.
Martha MacKenzie
This sours things between Philip and Stacey for a while after Philip refuses to forgive Brett. Jeff Samuels asks Stacey out and she accepts, however, he bores her on their date. Philip finds out and is jealous and takes out Stacey's secretary Alison Patterson in revenge. When several of Stacey's cheques are missing, she suspects Jeff's brother, Gary Samuels and does some investigating about him by getting closer to Jeff and visiting one of Gary's old nightspots. Martin Dibble portrayed by Craig Thomson, made his first on-screen appearance on 17 January 1988, the show's pilot episode and left the show on 3 April 1990. Thomson landed the role after appearing in a soft drink advertisement.

She is an actress and producer, known for UnREAL , Becoming Bond and Breach . Lisa Gormley is best known for her role as 'Bianca Scott' in the long running Australian serial drama, 'Home & Away'.
Johnny Ruffo
The actress originally recorded an audition tape for the serial in 2019 while she was living in Italy, but she did not get the role. After returning to Australia, she read for the part of Taylor and was cast. Stephenson found the filming style more relaxed, commenting "It's the Aussie spirit, it's so welcoming. You just come in, do your job and leave." Stephenson called her character "a friendly and fiercely independent woman". Taylor is married to Angelo Rosetta , who returns to Summer Bay after a long absence. Explaining their backstory, Stephenson said that Taylor fell in love with Angelo while she was studying physiotherapy. She liked his "passion and focus", as well as his good looks and charming personality.
Stephen is an Australian actor known for Home and Away , Hercules , Whiskey Tango Foxtrot , and Ein ganzes halbes Jahr . He grew up in Dubbo in central western New South Wales, worked as a jackaroo on a large-scale sheep and cattle station west of Bourke, and graduated from ... The Summer Bay Stalker storyline featuring Eve was nominated for "Best Storyline" at the 2006 Inside Soap Awards.

Vinson previously appeared in 2001 and 2003, as guest characters named Tonya and Summer respectively. In 2004, Vinson's agent submitted her to audition for the role of Martha MacKenzie. Vinson received a re-call for the role and was also handed scripts for another character, Cassie Turner. However, fellow actress Jodi Gordon went on to secure the role of Martha.
Andrew refuses to give up on being a counsellor, which causes the relationship to break down. Stacey, after receiving a job offer from Nina in Los Angeles, bids a tearful farewell to Andrew and leaves Summer Bay. Recurring and guest characters
Ailsa Stewart played by Judy Nunn made her first appearance on 17 January 1988 and remained in the serial until 2000. The character has been described as a "much-loved maternal disciplinarian". The character debuted on-screen during the serial's pilot episode on 17 January 1988. Meagher is the only remaining original cast member still present.
Jasmine questions whether he is looking for justice or revenge, and advises him to speak to a counsellor. Lewis then attacks Christian and holds him hostage in a disused hospital ward. He asks Christian to admit that he was responsible for Anna's death, but Christian refuses to confess to something he did not do. He pleads with Lewis to let him go and think of Jasmine, but Lewis administers a lethal injection and watches as Christian's heart stops.
Lance Smart, portrayed by Peter Vroom made his first appearance on 17 January 1988 and departed on 11 April 1990. Lucy Clark of The Sun-Herald described Lance and Martin as "Two surfie blokes who are thick as two short planks". Clive Hopwood wrote in his book Home and Away Special that Lance lacked enough intelligence that he had "difficulty knowing which way round to sit on a bicycle. Pippa Ross, played by Vanessa Downing made her first appearance in on 17 January 1988 in the serial's pilot.
On the day Ben and Marco are due to exchange contacts and money, Maggie tells Ben the truth about her one-night stand with Marco. Ziggy and Marco find Ben on the beach and he is tempted to hit his brother, but walks away instead. Tane ParataNikau Parata, played by Kawakawa Fox-Reo, made his first appearance on 28 January 2020. Fox-Reo's casting was announced alongside that of Rob Kipa-Williams in a November 2019 issue of TV Soap.
Philip lodges with Frank Morgan and Narelle Smart (Amanda Newman-Phillips) in the flat above the General store. When Stacey's brother, Brett steals money from the Macklin office safe and tries to flee with his new-born daughter Martha , Philip and Stacey chase after him. Philip overtakes Brett and tries to get Martha from the car, but Brett slams the door on his hand, severing tendons and gets away. Philip is then forced to face the reality that his dreams of being a surgeon are over. Morris later decided to leave the serial and asked the producers to kill Philip off. The character is trapped inside Celia Stewart's store when it blows up because of arsonist Dodge .
Marco catches Ben at the beach the following morning and tries to reconcile, but Ben is adamant that they are done and tells him to go home. Maggie asks to meet Marco and threatens to tell his parents that he ran their business into the ground if he does not go. Before he leaves the Bay, Marco tells Ben that he wins, Maggie loves him and he should be a proper husband to her.
Eden Fowler, played by Stephanie Panozzo, made her first appearance on 4 July 2022. The character and casting details were announced on 29 June 2022. Eden is one of four characters who make up the fictional band Lyrik, who have been introduced following the departure of four cast members in 2022.
Michael's jealousy gets the best of him and he violently punches Jack one day. In spite of this, Martha agrees to leave town with Michael but he ends up leaving alone after he realises he will only be second best to Jack. Donald was excited to join the Stewart family and work alongside Giblin, Ray Meagher and Georgie Parker . Donald liked that there are a lot of layers to Kieran, adding "he's trying to turn it all around, so that was pretty exciting for me – the fact that there's a real three-dimensional character in Kieran." They soon learn he was responsible for his parents deaths five years earlier. When cornered, Gary admits it was an accident and jumps off a high cliff only to land a smaller one scaring them.
